How my journey began…
It has always been my passion to contribute to the growth of our community.
I have lived in and loved Oakland County all my life, so when the opportunity arose to represent our district as Commissioner, I knew what I had to do. My name is Sarah Pounds and I am a Democrat running for Oakland County Commissioner for the 6th District.
For the past decade, I have lived in Orion Township with my husband, Nate, and our four young daughters. We cannot imagine living anywhere else.
I was raised in Independence Township and graduated from Clarkston High School. I then attended Oakland University, where I earned both a bachelor’s degree in History and my Paralegal Certificate. For 15 years, I worked as a paralegal, specializing in construction and surety law.
In 2020, the world changed, and so did I.
Inspired by the way our neighbors rose up in unity to care for each other in our time of need, I was determined to bring that spirit to our greater community. I decided to say goodbye to my career in law and devoted myself to my family and serving my community.
In August 2020, I was elected Precinct Delegate for Orion Township’s 6th Precinct and have been busy building a bridge between voters in my precinct and their Democratic representatives and candidates.
Now, my purpose is to ensure that Oakland County is better prepared for the future, by investing in our small businesses, public education, including school safety, and our great colleges and universities. A community is most successful when our small businesses and education are prioritized.
That is why I am excited about the chance to represent the 6th District of Oakland County!
